Cependant, celles-ci sont r\u00e9parties de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s in\u00e9gale puisque 85% du pays est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme zone aride ou semi-aride, tandis que les trois quarts des eaux de surface proviennent des hauts plateaux du centre. Le lac Tana et le lac Victoria sont les deux principales masses d&#8217;eau de surface, tandis que la vall\u00e9e du Rift poss\u00e8de les aquif\u00e8res les plus productifs. Quant aux eaux souterraines, elles sont sous-utilis\u00e9es par rapport aux eaux de surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ressources naturelles en eau au Kenya<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ainsi, malgr\u00e9 ces ressources naturelles en eau, la population kenyane continue <strong>d&#8217;avoir aujourd&#8217;hui un probl\u00e8me d&#8217;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/water.org\/our-impact\/where-we-work\/kenya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Selondonn\u00e9es de Water.org<\/a>, 15% des habitants du Kenya d\u00e9pendent de sources d&#8217;eau non am\u00e9lior\u00e9es, c&#8217;est-\u00e0-dire probablement contamin\u00e9es, telles que des puits ou des \u00e9tangs, et 41% n&#8217;ont pas acc\u00e8s aux infrastructures d&#8217;assainissement de base. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/kenya\/water-sanitation-and-hygiene#:~:text=59%25%20of%20people%20in%20Kenya,2020%2C%20to%20help%20with%20reopening.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Selon l&#8217;UNICEF<\/a>, le nombre de personnes sans acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable atteindrait 59 %. Comme dans d&#8217;autres pays africains, ce probl\u00e8me est plus accentu\u00e9 dans les zones rurales et les banlieues urbaines, dans les premi\u00e8res en raison d&#8217;un manque end\u00e9mique d&#8217;infrastructures, et dans les secondes surtout en raison des niveaux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de contamination des sources d&#8217;eau accessibles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le changement climatique va aggraver cette situation, <a href=\"https:\/\/winrock.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Kenya_Country_Profile-Final.pdf\">puisqueLes pr\u00e9cipitations au Kenya devraient augmenter<\/a>, mais aussi des p\u00e9riodes de s\u00e9cheresse. Et sans infrastructure ad\u00e9quate pour stocker et traiter l&#8217;eau, les pr\u00e9cipitations ne permettront pas de soulager le stress hydrique actuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winrock.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Kenya_Country_Profile-Final.pdf\">Selon le\u00c9tude de l&#8217;USAID<\/a>, les cinq grands barrages hydro\u00e9lectriques sur la rivi\u00e8re Tana, qui servent \u00e9galement \u00e0 l&#8217;irrigation, ont r\u00e9duit les d\u00e9bits de saison des pluies dans les zones humides en aval. Les plans de d\u00e9veloppement pr\u00e9voient la construction de nouveaux barrages et l&#8217;expansion de l&#8217;irrigation pour r\u00e9duire la pauvret\u00e9 et am\u00e9liorer la r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la s\u00e9cheresse, mais cela pourrait conduire \u00e0 une surexploitation des eaux de surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Organisation et financement, les cl\u00e9s de l&#8217;am\u00e9lioration de l&#8217;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/welysisindustries.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/kenia-water-02.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1984\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Une am\u00e9lioration des infrastructures permettant la conservation et le traitement de l&#8217;eau pour la rendre potable semble \u00eatre l&#8217;alternative la plus viable, mais elle n&#8217;est pas si simple, en raison d&#8217;une simple question d&#8217;organisation. Le chevauchement des fonctions et des responsabilit\u00e9s entre le Gouvernement et les diff\u00e9rentes autorit\u00e9s provinciales et locales, en plus de la raret\u00e9 des fonds, sont le principal obstacle \u00e0 surmonter au Kenya pour une bonne gestion de l&#8217;eau. En effet, <strong>l&#8217;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable est devenuune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairplanet.org\/story\/clean-water-access-kenyas-political-sinkhole\/\">question politique<\/a><\/strong>, \u00e9tant les plans pour rendre l&#8217;eau potable accessible \u00e0 tous l&#8217;une des propositions des diff\u00e9rentes parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais le manque de coordination fait que chaque domaine suit son propre agenda, et les questions li\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable sont rel\u00e9gu\u00e9es au second plan, comme des projets tels que le Plan strat\u00e9gique national pour le secteur de l&#8217;\u00e9ducation, qui a comme l&#8217;un des objectifs \u00ab la disponibilit\u00e9 d&#8217;eau potable, la promotion du lavage des mains et un assainissement ad\u00e9quat dans les \u00e9coles maternelles ont un impact positif sur la sant\u00e9 des enfants, en \u00e9vitant les maladies et les infections transmises par l&#8217;eau\u00bb. Les \u00e9coles finissent par essayer de mettre en \u0153uvre le plan avec leurs propres ressources limit\u00e9es, et beaucoup d\u00e9pendent <a href=\"http:\/\/lotus.co.ke\/water-purification-kenya\/\">encore desyst\u00e8mes de purification de base.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outre le manque de coordination au niveau gouvernemental, <strong>le financement est l&#8217;autre pierre angulaire de la r\u00e9solution de l&#8217;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable au Kenya.<\/strong> Bien que depuis 2000, le gouvernement et ses partenaires<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalwaters.org\/wherewework\/africa\/kenya\">investissement a consid\u00e9rablement augment\u00e9pour<\/a> am\u00e9liorer l&#8217;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&#8217;eau potable, comme les syst\u00e8mes d&#8217;approvisionnement en eau et d&#8217;\u00e9gouts urbains pour pr\u00e9venir la pollution, le pays d\u00e9pend encore fortement des financements ext\u00e9rieurs pour mener \u00e0 bien des projets tels que le National Water Master Plan 2030 du Kenya.
